Blog 15 – The New Logo (Brand Identity)

Hello folks, me again. So it is nearly the end of May – we’re still in Europe and the world is seemingly growing mad by the day; at least we have beer.  Now, on my last blog I mentioned I had started negotiations on a logo for my little home brewery – well, you saw the effort – it was very poor so I managed to re-secure my funds from the little blighters and sought […]

Blog 14 – Batch Number 6

Evening all; how the fuck are we?  Good? Brew 6 – American Wheat Beer.  Here I switched from Grain Basket back to a Nylon bag, only this time I used the proper clips to keep it secured to the perimeter of the kettle.  I also (for the second time) used RO water.  Strange thing here is that the pH of said water was acidic at 5.8, re-calibrated my meter but still read this figure (was […]

Blog 13 – Unlucky for some !!!

In my usual form this post is several weeks later than planned.  Perhaps blogging weekly was indeed a tad over optimistic; still – let’s press on. So, a few things have occurred since I last put pen to paper (or rather character to screen) – some of it progress, some of it not… The wall is up and clad (well half is but that is not big news), what is news is that my wall […]

Blog 12 – Introducing the Walrus…

Hello – it’s me (again), Thought I would drop a short video of my failing miserably at the Hapless Ginger 1 Litre Chug Challenge for 2019.  It’s a post to my YouTube channel which consists of just this video at present but as soon as I have my brewery set up a tad better I hope to make posts a regular thing – just like this here blog…what?  Yes I intend to both Blog and […]

Blog 11 – I’ve got a week off !!!

Rather unexpectedly – I have a week from work.  When I say unexpectedly – I did of course book it (as told by ‘er in doors) then promptly took no notice, but it’s here, we have nothing planned and I am going to spend a good majority of it on my brewery. As I type this, I have in front of me 9 whole day’s in which to add value to my little brewing domain […]

Blog 10 – I’m back (again)

Well it’s seemingly been yet another month; this blogging once per week malarkey isn’t has straight forward as it seems – life literally does get in the way.  Last time we completed the 2nd Dry Stout.  It is now kegged and conditioning happily and I am glad to report that the two main points from the 1st try (metallic taste and over bitterness) are not present. Life is good – next challenge is to make […]

Blog 9 – I’m Back

It’s been a while – but I have not been lazy (much), I have indeed been keeping busy updating my knowledge and buying more upgrades. Blog 8 – 2 Weeks after …

So…..where are we….mmmmm It’s now been 2 full weeks on CO2 and conditioning in the Keg at 12C and how is it?  Well, average.  It certainly looks and smells like Stout (still), tastes like stout (still) and 14 psi seems to suit the drink – I should be pleased, alas I am not.  Don’t get me wrong I am not unsatisfied with the results but if this brew has taught me anything about making your […]

Blog 7 – Happy New Year

Happy New Year – it is the 1st day of the new year and 2019 looks like a great deal of change for me.  However, as this is my blog on Beer I shall bore you not with matters that do not pertain to this here subject matter. So, where are we and what are the New Year plans? Well we completed the first all grain brew, the dry stout.  I’m pretty pleased with the […]

Blog 6 – It’s Alive !!!

Brew day was Saturday; it is now Wednesday (yes I’m late again with the Blog). It took nearly 24 hours; but it happened, there was a bubble, then another and another – we have the start of the conversion of sugar to alcohol and CO2 – we’ve successfully entered the final stage of the manufacture process – the fermentation.  From there its just condition / carbonation and DRINK !!! The idea now is to control […]
